Mambray Creek Campsite

In April of this year, I went camping with a bunch of friends to Mambray Creek in the Flinders Ranges. We planned it right after fire season ended, only to find out soon after we arrived that fire season had been extended. One of the best things about camping is the campfire but we were out of luck. Unfortunately for us, we had planned on cooking all our meals on the fire and so we had to share one cook top for the 5 of us, until the kind ranger lent us another one. It was absolutely freezing those two nights without a fire but we managed to have a good time and it was gorgeous country.

We got to the campsite and set up our tent when we realised all the tent pegs for were left at home.

We woke up to the sound of an emu searching our site for food.

We took a drive to nearby Port Augusta.

S is for Spiny Leaf Insects

I got this cute little insect to have in my classroom this year. This one is a female and quite happily hung out on my hand. They do have sharp little spikes, but these aren't painful until you try and move them.
This is a baby spiny leaf insect.

Moon Lantern Festival

Last night was the Moon Lantern Festival in Adelaide as part of the Oz Asia festival. Despite the long lines and crowds of people, I had a great time.

U is for useless things

Found these in the store the other day. When is there ever really a need for these???

Okay, so I have been informed that they are sometimes used so children can not open a door, but my thinking is that a skilled child, could work it out :)

Wirrina Cove Holiday Park

This post is a little overdue but I wanted to share Wirrina Cove with you all. We stayed at the holiday park in a cabin, but camping and caravan sites are available too. We were all just blown away by the vast space of the park, which makes it very family friendly.

Our cabin. It was 2 storeys with a double bed up top.

Downstairs.

 The camp kitchen.

Sheltered area in front of the camp kitchen to eat.

Huge grassed area near the camp kitchen.

BBQs right out front of our cabin.

Good news for animal lovers, the park is pet friendly.

Lastly, the owners of the park are wonderful, friendly and even offer boarding for the day if you can not take your pet with you on a day trip.

See the website here.

Escape to the South East

The Fleurieu Peninsula of South Australia has some absolutely beautiful and picturesque places. It's a must see if you are ever down this way. I was lucky to be invited to a wedding right on the beach of Carrickalinga and so I spent four glorious days away from my normal life.

The ceremony was held on the sand at Carrickalinga Beach.

Normanville Beach is not too far away and is absolutely gorgeous.
