Asabata Fire-walking Festival

Last night a local shrine held a fire walking festival. I am embarrassed to admit that I did not have a go. I had decided before we arrived that I wasn't going to because, well, I have very sensitive feet. I know, it's lame, but when I was younger I burned my feet very badly just by walking on the hot footpath. I ended up with horrible blisters and so from then on, I have been so wary of it and walking on fire would probably fall into the category of 'things that may burn your feet'. I do know I probably wouldn't have ended up with horrible blisters on my feet and to add to my embarrassment, little kids were walking across it..well more like bounding across it very fast, but I was already holding the camera, it really was a shame. I did get some great photos though.

Crepes with bacon and cabbage then smothered with a bbq like sauce and mayonnaise. They were so good.

Yokohama Ramen Museum

I can't say enough good things about this place. The museum part is interesting, and there are some displays and a cute little gift store but the biggest surprise to this place are the restaurants in the basement. Here you will see a 1958 replica of a street and houses of Shitamachi. There are 9 different ramen restaurants to choose from and 'outside' on the street, there is a street performer. The one we saw was just amazing. The atmosphere of this place is just fantastic.

Tokyo Disneyland

This was the second time I had been here. The first was back in 2006. You can see that post here. A friend of mind visited me from Australia and she wanted to experience it, so I made the trip again. I had more fun the second time I think, except for the rain at the end of the day. We were drenched.

They were adorable. I asked their mum if I could take a photo.

Tokai University Marine Science Museum

I went here on a kindergarten excursion. It isn't a really large aquarium but it was worth a visit. There is one large aquarium and then lots of smaller ones that house a variety of fish and other creatures of the sea. Upstairs is a "Mequarium", a mechanical aquarium. This is where you will see all the marine science exhibits.
