Larry, The Big Lobster

I have just returned from a road trip to Mount Gambier, which is a town in the South East of South Australia. We drove through Kingston SE purely to see Larry the Big Lobster. Just like the lighthouses that I make my friends detour for, we sometimes drive a little out of the way to see the 'Big Things' on the way (See The Miner). This trip seemed like a great way to see the coast on the way to Mount Gambier, and I got to tick something else off my list. 

M is for Miner

I love that we have 'Big Things' all over Australia. This is just one of them that we stopped at on the way to our friend's shack in Morgan. This is the Big Miner in Kapunda.

The Kapunda Mine (1844) was the first successful metal mine in Australia according to Bigthings.com. There are quite a few other Big Things to check out in Australia. If you are taking a roadtrip, maybe look at a few on the way.
